I have briefly mentioned that Little Man was starting swimming lessons this week. He was so excited but also very nervous. I haven’t taken him swimming as much as I should have and he isn’t very water confident. Little Man is scared to go under the water and he hates water on his face. I am really hoping when he gets more confident in the water he will be able to go under and be a real water baby.
As a child I loved swimming and I really want both of my children to be the same. This is partly the reason for getting Little Man into swimming lessons. I would love him to be able to swim, however I just want him to get used to the water and get really confident.
I am able to sit at the side and watch him and to start with he kept waving at me and shouting me. I kept telling him to concentrate. The lady had the children walking up and down the teaching pool, then they had to swim with floats.
He seemed to really enjoy his lesson and can’t wait to go back next week, which I am really pleased about. He’s still not happy about wearing the swimming cap though.
Aww sounds like he really enjoyed it . Blake does swimming lessons once a week. Have started him young so he can be use to the water.
Awww bless him, I’m glad he’s enjoying it! I really should take my children swimming more often. It’s so important for kids to learn to swim 🙂 I have a water phobia and I’m sure that’s because I never went swimming as a child, well not until I was much older!
Sounds like he’s having fun. I really need to think about swimming lessons for my girls. We live on the coast so swimming is an essential life skill.
Oh it’s so great for kids to learn to swim, I love it so much – my Dad taught me as a kid but I didn’t feel I had quite so much patience so both the girls went to lessons and they’re pretty confident in the water now. Those swimming caps are awful, though, I hate them!
Well done on signing him up to swimming! I haven’t had a lesson in over 15 years, and yet I can still remember the basics when I get in a pool. Really worthwhile skill to have.
Does anyone really like the swimming cap?! Sounds like he did fab
You’ll have to start swimming while he does his lesson to inspire him on
OMG he hates the cap but they all have to wear them!!
Bless his little cotton socks! Swimming is a great thing to get them involved in!
It’s great he enjoyed it. N hated wearing his swim hat at first too, but doesn’t mind it now. Try one of the silicone ones as they stretch easier, and less hassle getting on and off.
Glad he enjoyed it and wants to go back. Swimming is such an important skill too and something that everyone should be able to do in my opinion, even if they don’t go swimming for enjoyment. I can swim but rarely go swimming, but I know I can if I wanted to 🙂
Fantastic! I never learned to swim as a kid and I think it’s really important. It’s a skill as well as something we can enjoy.
Glad he enjoyed it, I must take my children swimming more often! my daughter loves it and I think would benefit taking part in swimming lessons. However she has been on the waiting list for our local pool for ages!!!

I never had swimming lessons as a child, growing up in the Caribbean meant just jumping off the jetty and hoping for the best( the thought of my daughter doing that now makes me feel sick lol) My little one hates water in her face, but jI try to encourage her to be water confident as learning to swim is such a good skill to have 🙂
Sounds like this was a lot of fun! Love the pictures! We took our oldest last summer and he absolutely loved it. We need to take our youngest soon too.
Ah he’ll get use to the cap soon. My little one started lesson with her dad, she loves them too. It’s such an important skill, my BF can’t swim and hates water so I think it’s great starting them off as early as you can 🙂
Mind you would anyone be happy about wearing swimming caps haha? I love swimming it makes you feel so free.
Oh bless him – I am glad he enjoyed it! Mine didn’t like the swimming cap either! Kaz x
