School 4 weeks on

It’s now been 4 weeks since our Little Man started school and we are both so proud of him. He has been doing so well and has never once had any problem with going into school.

Each morning Little Man just walks off into class, hangs his coat up, puts his book bag away and he is really happy. Sometimes I even have to call him back for a kiss as he forgets.

Little man has mad a lot of new friends which is fantastic, he said he didn’t want any new friends just before he started school. He talks about how much fun he has at school and with his new friends a lot.

He now goes to bed A LOT earlier than he used to. Before we were lucky if he was asleep before 2230 most nights. Now he is at school both of us are very strict with bed time routine. Little man can choose if he wants to go to bed at 1900 and have his tv for half hour OR he can go to bed at 1920 and have a story. He is now always asleep before 2000 every night. This has made a huge difference to him and his morning routine and now Little Man wants to get up. On a nursery morning we used to have to wake him up, we had a massive fight to get him ready and to nursery on time.

He is loving going to after school club once a week and loves staying to play with his friends. They have a little tuck shop where he can choose something from. I set an amount he can spend and how many items he is allowed and then I get billed at the end of the month. I went to pick him up the other day and he said…. “Mummy I wanted to stay there longer” I am so glad he likes going as this is something that is a must when I am back to work.

The biggest thing we have a problem with is him being hungry. Little man is always so hungry when he comes out of school. I always have to take a jam sandwich to school with me so he can eat it on the way home. I then have to make him wait until dinner is ready.

All in all we are all so proud of how well he has done and is doing. Keep going Little Man your making us all very proud of you.

So nice that he’s settling in well. We have the hunger problem too. My son eats well at school, but at 8 he still needs a snack the second he gets out of the classroom.

  2. Awww bless him. I’m glad he’s settling in well. Ha he sounds like a typical boy with him being hungry, I have to growing boys and all they do is eat! (They’re 12 and 10) xx

  3. Aw thats lovely, I worry about Monkey making friends when he goes to school as he doesn’t seem good at making them at nursery! I think the tuck shop is a great idea and its good that you have ultimate control. The jam sandwich tip has been noted for a years time – thank you 🙂

  4. I bet it is such a relief that he has settled in so well and is sleeping earlier now too. My eldest is always hungry after school too xx

I loved reading this, as I have this all to come next year when my boy starts school! Glad to hear how he’s settled in. The food thing sounds familiar, I remember always being starving come home time, don’t you?! Sabrina xx

  6. It’s great that he is settling in so well. I know what you mean about him being hungry all of the time, my children eat me out of house and home when they get back from school!

Tell me about it. I spend all day in the office being hungry too! Haha. It’s definitely a big change to not be able to snack when you want or need, so I totally understand where he’s coming from x

Aw it is so good to hear that you and the little man are settling in well. What a difference a routine makes and I am glad that he is having fun with his new friends. Sometimes children find it hard to adjust to change so he has done really well x

Bless him – sounds like he’s doing really well. It’s funny how exhausted they are after starting school isn’t it? Makes you wonder what they make them do all day! My kids are all famished when they come out of school too 🙂

We never had any problems convincing out little social butterfly to go either, but I see the other parents peeling their kids off them and running for the door. Makes me feel lucky. Glad your little is enjoying himself.
