Money series part 1: Sorting out debt

I have been thinking for a while about doing a series on my blog which is money related. Making money from home, getting out of debt, how to save money and how to spend wisely.

I have to admit I have always been very careful with my money the older I have got. When I was younger like most young people I had credit cards and a loan at one point and looking back now I have no idea why I had the loan. It can be very easy to let things spiral out of control though and get to a point where you think there is no return. This can be very dangerous, if you think there is no return you can end up spending more, borrowing more and getting into a very dark hole that can become impossible to get out of. It can ruin your credit rating and totally mess up your credit score later in life. This can lead to not being able to get loans or even worse a mortgage.

It is really important to identify when you think things are starting to get too much to handle. You could be paying out on a loan each month, paying off your overdraft, paying off a credit card or store card and all of these things are charging you interest and making you pay more back than you initially borrowed. The easy way out of this could be to go bankrupt, this is the easier way when you are in that deep dark hole of debt, however in the long run this isn’t the easy way.

Consolidating all of your debt into one monthly payment of a loan is going to really benefit you. Paying off one loan which has paid off all of your debts will mean paying off less interest and your monthly repayment will be a lot less. Now it is not guaranteed that you will be able to get a loan to do this but anything is worth a try, right?
