Coming from a family who loves horse racing I was super excited to attend the first race of the Summer Saturday season at Newmarket this weekend (10th June)
The weather couldn’t have been any better its was a scorching hot day and we had a fantastic time. We had tickets for the family enclosure which was upgraded so we were able to walk through to the parade ring. I would highly suggest if you are going with a family that it is so worth while upgrading to be able to walk through to the parade ring. The kids absolutely loved watching the horses walking around before the races. There is so much to explore out of the family enclosure as well.
The family enclosure has just had a 90k kids play area installed and I have to say its lovely. The kids loved it, with something for younger and older kids, sand area, slides and a big rope swing.
Through out the season in the family enclosure there are themed days from Paw Patrol to Teddy bears picnic with Paddington in attendance, check the website to find out what races have which themed days, there are lots!
When we attended on the 10th June there was a petting zoo with small animals, inflatable’s and face paining which was all free.
The family enclosure is right next to the course and the kids can easily see the horses running by. As well as everything which was going on for the kids, my boys loved watching the races, exploring the stands, watching the horses parade and going to watch the winners after the race.
We had the most fantastic family day out and with the scorching weather it made the day. So many people take tables and chairs and their own picnic, so it really is a full family day full of fun.
If you would like to watch a video of the day you can see it here.
A day at the races is as much for families as it is for couples and groups of adults. There really is something for everyone. Have you taken your family to the races or visited Newmarket? Let me know below.
