Ever thought about a Cruise?

Cruising is something we have always wanted to do and have looked at many times. There are so many different ships to choose from with 100s of activities on board between them. I know people who have been on cruises and all they can say is positive things, nothing is to much trouble for the staff and you don’t lift a finger whilst on board. Just recently we have been looking a Thomson Cruise and they have 6 ships to choose between. Just deciding on which ship you feel best suits your needs is a task in itself.

The Brand new Thomson Discovery is the biggest in the fleet and offers many eating places, casino, outdoor screen to watch a movie under the stars, mini golf, spa, gym and much more. The ship has wifi on board so if the on board Casino isn’t your thing, why not log onto the wifi and have a game of bingo!

The other ships are the Thomson Spirt which is the longest serving ship in the fleet and a favourite for people choosing a Thomson cruise.

The Thomson Dream which is well known for its beautiful show lounge and amazing west end style performances.

The Thomson Celebration is one of the smaller ships. It offers a range of restaurants and Al-La Carte eating area.

The Thomson Majesty is the one that couples love, offering a beautiful his and hers treatment room in the spa and plenty of bars and lounges.

The Thomson Island Escape is the most laid back of all the fleet and takes the more informal approach to holidaying at sea.

So as I said choosing a ship in itself is a task. Once you have decided which ship you would like to go on then you can go ahead and check out the itineraries. I am imagining us on the new Thomson Discovery as it has a lot of activities for the kids. Each ship has different itineraries for you to choose from each ranging from 7 nights up to 14+ nights. You can see each itinerary in its entirety on the Thomson website. Some days you will spend at sea and other days you will spend at a certain place then cruise to the next destination overnight. There are so many places, far to many for me to list here of where you can cruise to. I think cruising is on of those things that once you have done it you will catch the cruising bug and want to try other ships and different destinations all the time.

Thomson are currently taking bookings up to October 2016 so if you have already been away this year and are looking for next year then maybe you may now decide to look at cruising. It doesn’t have to be expensive like a lot of people think. You can make the price suit you, depending on which ship you choose, which Itinerary you choose and which cabin you decide on. Personally I think that a balcony is a must have however that may not suit some people.

Hopefully this has given you a little taste of what you could be experiencing.

  1. You’ve provided lots of information! My husband would love to go on a cruise, I’m less keen I have to admit, I’ve always found a few hours at sea just enough lol

Thanks for the great info, its appreciated. How does the balcony work? I ask as my daughters climb over everything! I know it’s a silly question, where would they fall if they climbed over the balcony or is it not possible to do that? 😀

  8. I love the thought of a cruise but hate boats as I am scared of the sea. Even though I know that this wouldn’t be like a normal boat swishing around, it frightens me at the thought of been above the water with no control

    • yeah i totally get what you mean. i find it hard to get my head around the fact a cruise liner is so heavy and doesn’t sink. Same with a plane though I don’t get how it stays in the air lol. its all crazy xx

  9. Kim Carberry says:

I would love to go on a cruise…My fella not so much! He can’t swim so the thought of being at sea terrifies him. x

  15. Daniella says:

I’d love a cruise but I hate the thought of it being so formal, I don’t like to stick to a timetable either so not sure one exists that would be suitable for me.

  16. bubbablue says:

I’d love to try a cruise, purely because you can get to see so many places. But there’s no way the OH would want to go on one.

  17. I would love to go on a cruise… Its coming up to my big 3-0 next June so I may drop a few hints to hubby and see what may happen… we always thought they would be out of our price range!

  20. Ana De-Jesus says:

I would love to go to a cruise purely for the idea but the only problem is how ill boats make me and I would enjoy my trip if I was feeling sick all the time.It does sound good though!
