Checking your tyres on a regular basis may not be at the top of your list of things to do, however it is something that should be taken very serious.
A few years ago now we were on our way to Scarborough. Driving down the motorway in our Vauxhall Insignia and all of a sudden we heard a noise which sounded like a motorbike going past us at high speed. As we looked round as it was quite loud there was no motorbike in sight. The car then felt as if it wasn’t driving correctly, we decided to pull over and check out what the noise was and why the car didn’t feel correct. Sure enough we had a puncture, the noise we heard had been the wheel popping. Luckily for us we had Pirelli tyres on the car which were very expensive, the car didn’t go into a wobble at all and we managed to pull over safely. Although we were stuck on the side of a motorway with traffic speeding past at high speed. Anyone can get a puncture due to something piercing the wheel but tyres can puncture if they are old and worn. This is why tyre safety is such a big thing and should be taken seriously. We were lucky, however some cars could end up getting in a speed wobble or spinning which wouldn’t be a good situation to be in.
If you are like me and know absolutely nothing about cars you can go to the Point-S website, enter your car reg and it bring up the make and model of your car and it will tell the size of your car tyres. You then click and can be taken through for a quote. A few different makes will come up with prices next to them. You can choose a quote for 1,2,3 or 4 tyres. Once you have chosen which tyre you would like you enter your postcode and that will bring up the nearest place to you where you can reserve the tyres. Next you will choose a date and AM or PM time slot to go in and have the tyres fitted. You will be show a total amount and simply press book.
Always make sure you either take your tyres to be checked regularly, where I buy my tyres from the suggest every couple of months. You can also check for wear and tear yourself. Make sure you check all 4 tyres, both sides of the tyre and all around. Check your tread with a special tool which you can buy and make sure that if you think something isn’t right go and get it checked.
