Activities to do in Cork

Cork with children

Cork is a great city to visit with children. Both Cork city and County Cork are brimming with activities to keep the kids entertained, making it an excellent value destination for families. Book into one of the great value family hotels in Cork and enjoy a holiday full of fun for all ages. A few of our favourite family activities and attractions are:

Cork Sea Safari

One of the finest harbours in the world can be found here in Cork. It’s the second largest natural harbour in the world, second only to Sydney harbour. There are several sea safaris to catch from the city. You can take a tour of the harbour, a dolphin discovery tour, bbq tour and a tour that takes you all the way to Kinsale. A high octane experience, suitable for families with older children.

Lifetime Lab

For a unique day out, head to the Lifetime Lab. With historical buildings, an interactive exhibition, steam centre, playground, sensory garden and picnic area it’s a great day out with all the family. It’s near to Fitzgerald Park and Cork City Gaol, so there are a lot of other attractions within the immediate area to explore while you’re here.

Blarney Castle

Built over 600 years ago by the McCarthy clan, this former stronghold has become a popular visitor attraction, thanks in part to the now famous Blarney Stone. Legend has it that if you kiss this stone you receive the gift of eloquence, however this is no mean feat and kissing the stone, which is set in the wall below the battlements, used to involve being dangled by the ankles over the battlements! These days it’s not quite as death defying. You can also explore the enchanted gardens surrounding the castle, perhaps seek out the faeries said to live there, and marvel at the druid alter.
