Christmas Surprises game review and Giveaway from Orchard Toys

Christmas Surprises is a fantastic festive game to play with the kids. Well in actual fact it is 2 games in 1 and really it can be played all year round, not just at Christmas. One game is a shapes game and the other is a colours game.

First of all whats in the box?…

  • 4 double sided festive play boards
  • 24 shaped presents
  • 24 coloured bauble pieces
  • 1 shapes dice
  • 1 colours dice

Game 1. Shapes

For the shapes game you need to use the boards Santa side up. There are 24 pieces that need to laid on the table wrapping paper side up. each person takes it in turn to roll the shapes dice. What ever shape the dice lands on that person needs to pick up a present corresponding to the shape on the dice. If you roll and shape and no longer have any of those shapes free on your board, you need to return the present back into play.

THE WINNER… the winner is the first person to cover all their shapes on their board. All players then turn over their presents to see what Santa has bought them.

This game is aimed at children aged 3-6 and is for 2-4 players. This is a fab game for any child learning to recognise shapes. Again another fab one from Orchard Toys, never fails to amaze me such a fantastic game for the little ones. Love the learning whilst playing approach, children do not realise they are learning whilst playing. My son is 4 and he is now quite good at recognising shapes so this game is perfect for him to play. It will also come in really handy for Bubs once he starts to learn. The thing I love about the Orchard Toys games are… They are made to last. They can be played with many times and still look as good as new. Once Little Man has had his fun with this game and it becomes too easy, I know I will be able to put it away for Bubs to play with.

Game 2. colours

This time you need to use the boards Christmas Tree side up. The bauble pieces are then spread out on the table coloured side up. Each person then takes it in turns to roll the colours dice. You then need to pick up the coloured bauble which you have rolled and decorate your tree with it. If you roll a colour and you have no free space on your tree then you pass your go.

THE WINNER…The winner is the first person to decorate their tree with all the matching coloured baubles.

Little Man is quite good at colour recognition now however he still loves this game. We have many Orchard toys games now and a few of them are quite young for him, however he still loves to play them over and over again.

This is a fab 2 in 1 game and it retails for £9.50. I still can’t believe the amazing value of these game from Orchard Toys
