When we moved home we actually didn’t realise how bad a condition the windows were in. It wasn’t something we had factor into our budget to have done, however after being here for a year we really need to look at getting them replaced.
After a few weeks of being here we noticed that most of the windows had some kind of gap in one place or another. It was obviously letting in a draft and when it got really cold last winter it was very obvious something needed to be done. We had many things which we actually wanted to do to the house and windows wasn’t top of our list so in the mean time I had to improvise. We bought some of the tape which you can put in the gap, you just stick it down the seal and then close the window. I have to say it did a really good job and totally stopped the wind and draft coming through all of the places where we had seen gaps.
Fast forward a year and we are now looking to have our UPVC windows replaced fully. I have been looking around at a few companies and had one quote. The quote we got in fact wasn’t as much as I thought it was going to be, however it is so hard to know which company to go with. When spending such a large amount of money you want to get it just right. We have decided that we are going to have the grey finish on the outside as our house on the from is white rendered, the grey contrast will go so well and really look the part.
Below is a picture of the grey windows on the white front and it looks just amazing. I really can’t wait to actually get our windows done now.
If you are struggling to find a company or know where to go to get a quote there are websites online where you can type in your needs and they then get someone to give you a call back from individual companies for a quote. you can choose if it is double glazing windows, UPVC, aluminium etc. This is such a great way to find local companies which can quote you. It is always advisable to make sure you get at least 3 quotes and then make your decision.
We are now going to wait until the Summer to have our windows replaced as it is just too cold to be having that done at this time of year. As much as I can’t wait, I know that getting them done in the summer months is a lot better.
Do you have the grey windows? if so what do you think to them, do they make a statement in your street?
